Cafe El Tapatio

Last night, Ryan and I went out to dinner at Cafe El Tapatio. One of our favorite (if not our very favorite) Mexican restaurants in the city. We got there early enough to snag a table on their patio. The weather was absolutely perfect last night so we were happy to sit outside.

We started with margaritas and the complementary chips and salsa.

Oh my goodness the salsa was spicy last night! Yikes! Delicious, nonetheless. The margaritas were excellent and definitely had some kick to them ;)

For my entrée I ordered the Enchiladas de PlatanoThree corn tortillas stuffed with fried plantains and topped with mole poblano, queso anejo, and sour cream. Served with rice and beans.

I’ve ordered this entrée before and loved it, so I went with it again. Good choice! I am a huge fan of plantains, so it’s no wonder I like this dish. Fried plantains covered in sweet and spicy mole and cool sour cream = happy Cait. I ate everything except the beans and a few last bites of enchilada. Ryan cleared his plate and we both left absolutely stuffed. Seriously, the food’s so good it’s hard to stop eating.

We walked home, sat in food comas watched some tv, and hung out with Maddux before venturing back out for some dessert.

We went to Scooter’s , which is Maddux’s favorite ice cream joint because he gets a puppy cone!

I chose the concrete of the day – Chocolate Reese’s

Chocolate overload. Oh yum.

And that was our Friday night. Thank goodness I worked out yesterday.

This morning I woke up bright and early. Really early, as in 5:50am. Why can’t I sleep in on weekends? During the week I could sleep all morning, but on weekends I am up at the crack of dawn. Must have something to do with that whole work thing…..

After breakfast we took Maddux to the dog park. We have plans later in the day, so we wanted to make sure he burned off some energy this morning since we have to crate him later. We got home just before it started pouring.

Let’s hope the skies clear up soon! I’d like to see some of the Air and Water Show!
