Doggy School

Last night was a busy one.

When I finished with work I went to the gym and took an hour-long muscle max class.

Then I hurried home, showered, and shoved food in my mouth.

A couple of pb & j tortillas served on a paper towel. I’m fancy like that.

I attempted to get Maddux’s picture in front of the front door before we headed out for his first day night of “school”.

You can see how successful that was….

I finally got smart.

Although, he has lazer eyes cause I had to use the flash. Amateur.

On our walk to “school”, we came upon the scene of the treat container incident. Maddux stopped dead in his tracks. Totally terrified of the treat container. He wouldn’t walk anywhere near it. I had to pull him way around the thing to get him to walk past. I didn’t think he would remember, yikes!

So, school was interesting. It’s a basics class for dogs who are a little older than puppy kindergarten age. There are only 5 dogs in it and they are all around Maddux’s age (he’s almost 9 months). My sweet little puppy just had to be the naughty kid in class. Great. He was NOT happy that he had to sit there with me holding onto him. All he wanted to do was run around and play with the other dogs. He can’t bark, so to show his displeasure he cried. LOUDLY. The poor teacher was practically shouting trying to talk over him. She ended up giving him a bone just to pacify him. What a stinker! He did pretty well with the commands we learned, though (eye contact and wait). Basenjis are not easy to train (they are stubborn and independent), so we have a lot of work ahead of us.

This morning I woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Crabby pants. Wow. Poor Ryan didn’t know what hit him. Pretty sure he tried asking me a question and got a glare as a response.

I walked Maddux to doggy daycare and started to feel much better. Maybe the fresh air snapped me out of it. Who knows. Anyway, I stopped at Dunkin’ Donuts on my way back home.

Iced coffee for me and some munchkins for us to share.

Munchkins make great reparations for being a crabby girlfriend. ;)

Have a great weekend, all! I’m babysitting for my sister tonight and hoping to get outside and enjoy the sun tomorrow. This summer has gone by much too quickly!!
