Boy, I am sneaking this recipe in juuuust in time for the holiday weekend.
So, after posting about lemon and orange jello shots the other day, I decided to step it up a notch and make Watermelon Jello Shots!

Cute, huh? They also happen to be vegan. I used Natural Desserts brand Jel Dessert (jello), which can be found online or at Whole Foods.

If you don’t care whether they are vegan or not, then just use regular jello – doesn’t matter the flavor as long as it’s red/pink (although, obviously watermelon would be best). If you want to make these non-alcoholic, just sub 1 cup of water for the vodka.
Watermelon Jello Shots
makes 24 wedges
- 6 limes
- 1 cup vodka
- 1 box jello mix
- black sesame seeds

Cut limes in half, top to bottom. Scoop out the pulp with a spoon.

Put each lime half in a muffin pan.
Bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Remove from heat, add the vodka, and then immediately add the packet of jello mix, stirring until dissolved.

Pour the liquid into the lime halves, filling to the brim. You may have extra liquid – I poured the rest of mine into Dixie cups, like traditional jello shots. Don’t wanna waste the booze
Put the muffin pan in the fridge until the jello is set. Then, use a sharp knife to slice each lime half in half, making wedges. Stick black sesame seeds on each wedge (just press ‘em on, they’ll stay put, I promise!). Enjoy!

Have a great Labor Day Weekend, all!!

I didnt think it was possible but these are even more precious than the first version! Super cute

Funny thing is, I am not too big into jello shots myself! I make them more for others – but I WILL be eating these ones!
Yum. That is all.
I am totally going to try making these this weekend!

Do it! Your friends will thank you!
Daaaaaaaaang it. I glossed over the “to the brim” part of the recipe. I don’t think I filled them enough — the jello seems to have seeped into the lime a little bit while they were in the fridge. They’re still darn cute though.

I bet if you made more of the liquid you could “top them off” a little. Mine weren’t perfect either – one side always looks better than the other . No one will care/notice, they’ll be too busy eating them!
I’m too lazy. They will have to like them as is. They are still cute! I’ll practice some more with the oranges… I’m now addicted!

I’ve been seeing those jello wedges everywhere lately, but have never seen watermelon ones! Those look SOO freaking cute!
Thanks! Yeah, I’ve done the lemon and orange ones – these look way better!
These are so stinkin cute!!! I’m going to try to make these for my friends. I can’t eat jello (bad bad horrible terrible experience in college) but I know people who would love them!

I think that these are adorable but I am concerned that the seeds may take away from the shots! Any suggestions? Do they get in the way? I don’t want my girlfriends to choke!
Nope, they don’t get in the way at all. I hardly noticed them!
