Watermelon Jello Shots (Vegan)

Boy, I am sneaking this recipe in juuuust in time for the holiday weekend.

So, after posting about lemon and orange jello shots the other day, I decided to step it up a notch and make Watermelon Jello Shots!

Cute, huh? They also happen to be vegan. I used Natural Desserts brand Jel Dessert (jello), which can be found online or at Whole Foods.

If you don’t care whether they are vegan or not, then just use regular jello – doesn’t matter the flavor as long as it’s red/pink (although, obviously watermelon would be best). If you want to make these non-alcoholic, just sub 1 cup of water for the vodka.

Watermelon Jello Shots

makes 24 wedges

- 6 limes

- 1 cup vodka

- 1 box jello mix

- black sesame seeds

Cut limes in half, top to bottom. Scoop out the pulp with a spoon.

Put each lime half in a muffin pan.

Bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Remove from heat, add the vodka, and then immediately add the packet of jello mix, stirring until dissolved.

Pour the liquid into the lime halves, filling to the brim. You may have extra liquid – I poured the rest of mine into Dixie cups, like traditional jello shots. Don’t wanna waste the booze ;)

Put the muffin pan in the fridge until the jello is set. Then, use a sharp knife to slice each lime half in half, making wedges. Stick black sesame seeds on each wedge (just press ‘em on, they’ll stay put, I promise!). Enjoy!

Have a great Labor Day Weekend, all!!
