Hope you’re all having a good Monday!
I’ve got a weekend recap for ya -
Friday -
Finished up work for the week.
Got our less than year-old couch professionally cleaned.

Reason why couch needed to be cleaned?

Get down!
Went to a movie – Moneyball. Ryan and I both liked it. Brad looked pretty good. We had to skip dinner in order to make it to an earlier showing, so we inhaled an entire medium popcorn before the movie even started. Man, we’re awesome.
Saturday:
I ran a bunch of errands. TAG Outlet, Ulta, and Jewel.
The TAG Outlet (1730 Outlet Company) is one of my favorite stores in the city. Housewares and seasonal decor at crazy cheap prices. Of course, I wanted just about everything in the store, but limited myself to these things…

Scented Halloween candles. They were $1.50 each! I got three.

Creepy crow candle. I really don’t know why I bought this.

A couple of candy corn candle holders + candles.

A veggie plate and mug. Too cute.

And some red and gold glittery plates, cause I can’t resist the bling bling. Ryan can’t wait to eat off of them.
Saturday evening we went out to dinner for my friend Heather’s birthday.

The outfit. Plus a blazer.

Laughing at Maddux photobombing my picture.
We went to an Italian BYOB restaurant named Caro Mio.
Some (lots of) wine was enjoyed.

And…

Miller Lite. Yes, my classy boyfriend brought Miller Frickin’ Lite to the nice Italian restaurant. I don’t even know…

I ordered the “pappardelle con pomodoro seco – sun dried tomatoes in a creamy mascarpone cheese sauce”.

Super rich! And delicious.

I ate only about a quarter of the bowl before I was stuffed (thanks in part to bread + wine). Yo restaurants, cool it with the massive portions!
After dinner we went to a nearby bar and did a little more birthday celebrating before calling it a night around midnight. Old farts.
Sunday:
Woke up bright and early and went to Orange for breakfast.

Water + cucumber slices.

Make your own juice!

Ryan ordered an orange-lime juice. Freshly squeezed juice is SO good.

I had the orange infused coffee. Nice change up from the regular joe.

To eat, I ordered the Pancake Flight.
Clockwise from the top left: Strawberry, Banana, Raspberry, Passion Fruit. The strawberry and the passion fruit were my favs.

Demolished.
After breakfast we took Maddypants to the dog park.

It was pretty crowded. Everyone had the same idea – wear the dog out, watch the Bear’s game in peace.
And it worked. Maddux slept through the whole game.
And then he woke up and attacked shadows on the wall.

He’s so smart. Takes after Ryan.
Dinner was Alexia Spicy Sweet Potato Fries, grilled romaine salad, and black bean cakes.

Yep.
So tell me, what was the best thing you ate this weekend?
For me, it’s a toss up between the pasta and the pancake flight!

I love your coach and your outfit!
Fall clothes are definitely my favorite.
That Pancake Flight you had looks amazing and it’s such a great idea.
The best thing I ate this weekend was an apple cider donut from the Long Grove apple fest I went to!
Thanks! I love fall clothes, too – I wear scarves constantly!
Were these pictures taken with your new camera?
The pics of Maddux are so cute!
Sounds like you had a great weekend!
Best thing I ate: Otis Spunkmeyer cookies. Hands down.

The pics at home are with my new camera. The pics at the restaurants are with my phone. Still feel a little weird busting out the big camera in public. And I still barely even know how to work it, haha!
I had to Google Otis Spunkmeyer! They look delicious! Chocolate chip?
Looks like a successful weekend to me
I’ve never seen a full-size picture of you before– You’re so pretty, Cait!

You’re too sweet! Thank you!
Cayooooot pancakes! Anything where you get to try a lot of different kinds of things is a-okay in my book.
Popcorn for dinner and Miller Lite at a fancy restaurant…you do what ya gotta do!
I agree. I’m all for small portions where you get to try lots of different things over one monster size dish (like the pasta I had!).
Love the outfit…so cute! Pancakes and fresh squeezed juice, right up my alley! Oh and the bear win made for a great weekend!
Thanks! Yes, the Bear’s win made for a happy boyfriend
Hi Cait! I am so glad you stopped by my blog so I could find yours! First of all, you are gorgeous, loveee that outfit! That is so something I would wear, except it works better on you
And second, your eats? Drool… that pasta/cheese/tomato dish… oh my! Heavenly. And of course the pancakes, I would have dove right into the strawberry ones

Thanks, girly! Yeah, the pancakes were pretty delicious – the strawberry one had Nutella hidden inside. I practically licked the plate clean.
I’m kind of obsessed with your couch now.

It’s a good one! We usually have the ottoman pulled away from it, but push the whole thing together when watching TV or movies. It’s like a giant bed and is totally hard to move from once you get comfy!
I LOVE those halloween decorations! So cute! And you look so cute in that outfit
Hm. The best thing I ate this weekend? Probably my dipped soft serve swirl icecream that I got at Oktoberfest

Michelle @ Oats n’ Bows recently posted..Pumpkin Pie for breakfast?
Thanks! Oh man, I could SO go for some soft serve right now!
Three things..
1) I absolutely ADORE your outfit..soo cute! You’re beautiful!
2) Thanks for letting me know about the outlet store! All your purchases look so cute! I am moving to Lakeview at the end of the month and I def need some new things therefore I am soo there!
3) Orange is probably my favorite bfast place (that and bongo room).

Thank you! Yeah you have to go to the TAG outlet! Make sure to get on their email list, every once in a while they have warehouse sales with INSANE deals.
I love your weekend. I have weekend envy. Door County has nothing on Chicago – I should have stayed home! I’m obsessed with Orange and pretty sure that the pancake flight is the best thing to happen to me.
Also, I love your couch. I would never leave my house if I had that couch.

Yeah, I have a hard time getting off my ass some days. That couch + blankets + pillows = ultimate movie watching spot.
So I finally found time to read your blog! Love it your so cute! miss you tons!!
Thank you! Let’s get together soon!! I’m thinking a Desperate Housewives/wine/dinner night soon?
I’d take your pancake flight over a wine flight any day!

Omg your couch looks amazing and comfy! I don’t know why I thought that, but I just had to share. And CUTE home decor stuff!
Also, I’ve had pancake flights before, and I have to say, the way the presented your flight was too cool! I love the individual serving compartments!
Ummm I don’t think I had anything nearly that delicious
This weekend was my drinking weekend (instead of my eating out weekend) so the best thing I had was a vodka tonic

I’m drooling over all your meals! Pancake flights?! What a great idea!
Can you explain the grilled romaine salad? Sounds interesting….
That pasta looks amazing. And so does your pancake flight, I would like that for lunch please
Have a great day!

I sliced a Romaine heart in half, brushed each half with olive oil and grilled. There are a lot of recipes for Caesar salad done this way, but I just topped mine with Annie’s Goddess Dressing. I really liked it!
Could you share the recipe for the black bean cakes? I always struggle with yummy vegan main dishes. Thanks!
I wish I had a recipe, but I just tossed in ingredients! I think it was a can of black beans (that I put in food processor), onion, sweet peppers, chili powder, garlic, and tiny bit of cayenne pepper. I’m probably missing something, though! Oh, and I coated each black bean cake in bread crumbs to make them a little crispier. Hope that helps!
