Fall Weekend in Iowa

I had a great weekend back home in Iowa. Maddux did too. Besides a couple of potty breaks, he’s been sleeping since we got home last night. That dog is wiped. It’s fantastic.

He’s not used to all the action. Including Maddux, there were 3 dogs and 3 cats at my parent’s house this weekend. Plus 4 rambunctious kiddos. Chaos. Can’t wait for Thanksgiving when there will be 5 dogs. My dad’s already stockpiling Xanax for the occasion.

The weather was gorgeous, so Maddux and I spent a good amount of time outside exploring my parent’s backyard. He loved running around and sniffing everything. Probably smells a little different than the city.

Saturday morning my mom, Maddux, and I hit up the Farmers’ Market.

Lots of fall produce.

I bought a butternut squash, sweet onions, caramel rolls, and maple syrup. I would’ve bought more produce had I not had to lug it all back to Chicago.

I bought the caramel rolls to bring back for Ryan. They are made by the Dominican Sisters at Sinsinawa Mound. Can’t go wrong with any of their breads, those Sisters know how to bake!

Saturday afternoon was spent at my sister’s house, which is so cute. She really is quite the Martha, as is my mom.

Lots of doggy playtime.

Maddy even got to go off leash, which he rarely gets to do (other than at the dog park).

A perfect fall day spent with family. Love.

Stay tuned for part two of my weekend – my high school reunion!
