Grocery Shopping

Hey, hey! Happy Friday!

Anyone have any cool plans this weekend? I’m going to the Bulls’ game tomorrow afternoon. Should be a good time.

But before that…

I’ll have my usual Saturday morning routine of an early morning workout followed by grocery shopping. For me, Saturday morning grocery shopping involves stops at a minimum of 3 different grocery stores. Luckily, those three are located near each other, and with the lack of traffic that early, I can get it all done in an hour or so. Not bad. Not bad.

My first stop is Whole Foods Lincoln Park, otherwise known as Foodie Disneyworld. That place is insane and I could spend hours in there. If you go shopping in the morning you will see all of the customers doing their shopping with a coffee in hand. If you go shopping in the evening (or afternoon) you will see all of the customers doing their shopping with a glass of wine or beer in hand. It’s so yuppie and awesome.

My next stop is Stanley’s Fruit and Vegetable Market. You can walk out of there with two bags packed full of fruit and veggies for under 20 bucks. Case in point -

Raspberries – 49¢ a pack. Um, OK! Plus they sell packages of fresh herbs, like basil and mint super cheap. Oh, and massive bags of spinach. I eat a ton of vegetables, so this place is a gold mine for me.

Third stop is Treasure Island, solely for Ryan’s lunchmeat, though I’ll usually find a few other items I “need”.

Oh, and I still shop at Trader Joe’s, Costco, Mariano’s, and Jewel on occasion. In fact, I’m thinking about going to Trader Joe’s tonight. I haven’t been there in ages and I read they are selling chocolate stuffed French toast now. That plus some 2 Buck Chuck and I’ll be all set.

Grocery shopping – hate it or love it? I love it, obviously, or I probably would just go to Jewel and be done with it.

Do you shop at multiple grocery stores? I can only imagine my sister’s response to this, haha. (She has four kids, a husband, two cats, one dog, a house, a job, a blog, etc. etc.). I’m just an ass with too much time on my hands.
