Happy Friday!! I’m currently taking a lunch break and eating the same salad I’ve been eating all week. I used up the last of the veggies, which works out perfectly since I’ll be going grocery shopping tomorrow. Love when that happens. Usually, I buy too much produce and some of it ends up going bad before I get the chance to use it.
In other news, I am sore today! Kickboxing should be interesting tonight. After work yesterday I went to the FXB gym for my usual workout. It was an upper body day (back, chest, shoulders, biceps, and triceps).

After that workout, I went to Lululemon Halsted, where they were hosting a free 45 minute Tabata class. Tabata is a form of HIIT (high-intensity interval training), where you do 20 seconds of intense exercise, followed by 10 seconds of rest. You repeat this 8 times, for a total of 4 minutes.
After 4 minutes, we would rest for a minute before starting the cycle over again with another exercise. I think we did 8 or 9 different exercises total.

We used resistance bands and gliding disks to do a variety of exercises incorporating things such as planks, pushups, lunges, and squat jumps. Forty five minutes later, I was a sweaty mess. It is intense! I really liked it, though. Since you are always switching things up, the time goes by quickly. I would much rather do something like this than run on the treadmill for 45 minutes (not surprising, though – I’m totally not a runner).
Before the Tabata class, I actually made a quick stop into Karyn’s Fresh Corner Café/Market. It is a holistic wellness center, where you can buy raw foods, smoothies, natural healthcare products, supplements, etc.

Pricey, but awesome & unique products. Definitely the place to go if you are looking for fresh kale chips or raw ice cream. I bought a pumpkin seed cookie & some PUR gum (aspartame free sugarfree gum!).

I’d like to go back sometime and eat at the adjoining restaurant – a raw, vegan, fine dining restaurant. I’ve eaten at one of her other restaurants, Karyn’s on Green, and it was fantastic, so I’m assuming this one is pretty great as well.
Anyone doing anything fun this weekend? Ryan has a final to study for and I don’t have anything on the agenda, so it should be a quiet, relaxing one around here. We head to NYC next week, then return to Chicago just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, so I’m glad this weekend will be low-key!
Back to work! Let’s hope the afternoon cruises by – TGIF!

Wow I have never heard of Karyn’s, but I am def going to stop by..that gum sounds delicious (on top of all the other things you took pictures of!) Plus kale chips to buy? I am sold! Where is it located?
Can you believe it’s already St Patty’s next weekend?? I am so excited. Time sure flies.
Have a good and relaxing weekend Cait!

Karyn’s is in Lincoln Park, on Halsted. I’m way excited for St. Patrick’s Day! So fun in Chicago!! Hope you are having a good weekend!
I love exploring stores like that, but PRICEY is right. Whew.
Interval training goes by so much more quickly than steady cardio. I’m doing the Livefit program, and this past week has incorporated sprints, which fly by compared to 30 minutes of elliptical.

I’ve been reading about your experience w/ Livefit. If I wasn’t doing FXB, I would totally be interested in doing it!
That tabata class sounds so fun!! I’m really looking forward to St.Patrick’s Day too!!! Yay.

It tastes great, but lost it’s flavor in like 5 seconds
that interval workout sounds intense but wholly effective. i agree that I would much rather do that than run for 45 minutes. and good for you on the veggies, i always kick myself when i let them get bad!
