I’m back! Along with my mini-vacation to New York, I decided to take a little blogging vacation as well. Probably a good thing because now I actually have stuff to talk about.
So, here’s a recap from our two nights and three days in NYC. We did all the standard touristy stuff and I walked around with my big ass camera around my neck looking like a tool. We had a great time and I’d go back in a heartbeat!
NYC: Day One
Hotel: We stayed at The Paramount Hotel, located in Times Square. We got a really great rate on the room and the location could not have been better, just a half block away from the heart of Times Square. There is a Dean & Deluca in the lobby, which made for some quick and easy breakfasts and afternoon pick-me-ups. The hotel is super modern and has a funky lobby with lots of fun (aka. weird) artwork. It also has a couple of cool looking bars, but we didn’t get the chance to check them out cause we are old and go to bed early.

Times Square: We spent plenty of time walking around Times Square. For lunch, we picked up pizza and ate it at one of the little tables scattered about. The energy of that place is just amazing and it’s even better at night!

Rockefeller Center: I’m really glad we went here. The views are just incredible and you get to see just how enormous Central Park is. Plus, since we planned on going to MoMA as well, were were able to get a package deal on tickets to the observation deck and to MoMA, which saved us some $.

Night #1: For dinner on our first night we walked to a nearby Mexican restaurant called Toloache. The restaurant was beautiful, the service was good, and the food was delicious.

After dinner we hopped on the subway and headed to the Knicks game. It’s no United Center
, but we had a great time, the Knicks won, and I ate an entire bucket of popcorn.
Since we had been up since 4am (earrrrly flight), we just called it a night and went back to the hotel after the game was over. Wiped!

(Darn you pizza joint next to our hotel!)
Stay tuned for part 2!

that hotel looks right up my alley- i love funky designs and even funkier art. And it’s nice to be right in the middle of everything!
How fun to go to a basketball game while you are there! And bed shortly after would be the route I would go after being up since 4 AM
and nice job on the observation deck… I think I pick the worst times to go because everytime I’m there, it’s WAY more crowded than it looks in your images!

Yeah, you would love the Paramount! It’s funky and modern and I would definitely stay there again!
Yeah, it wasn’t too crowded – I think we just got lucky, though. It was spring break and there were hoards of teenagers everywhere the whole time!
