Salad, Sun, Shopping

Whew! I’ve done a ton already this weekend and it’s only half over! I’m just taking a little break now before heading out to dinner with Ryan, my mom, my sister, and my brother-in-law. Here’s the lowdown on my weekend so far…

Friday (after work): Went to the East Bank Club with my mom and my sister and her kids for some late afternoon swimming.

We ended up just grabbing dinner there. I had the Salad Bar Salad with tofu “A mixture of lettuces and spinach, served with red onions, carrots, garbanzo beans, beets, cucumber, tomato, artichoke hearts, broccoli, mixed cheeses, and mushrooms, with your choice of poached chicken, flaked tuna or tofu”.

Good stuff. I also had bread and snagged some sweet potato fries from my mama ;)

After dinner we went back to my sister’s house and chatted on the back deck with a glass of wine. A nice, relaxing end to the week.

Saturday (so far): Went to my nephew’s 4th Birthday Party this morning at Pump It Up.

I would’ve LOVED a place like this when I was a kid. What a blast. Parents must love it too because the kids burn off a ton of energy.

Guess what I ate at the Birthday Party??

CAKE!!

Ok, it was actually ice cream cake ;) Now, that’s a cake I can get into!

This afternoon we got pedicures and then went to a park with a water playground. The kids splashed around and cooled off. It’s the beginning of a heat wave here in Chicago!

After the park, I walked towards the El station to head home. I got distracted by some stores, though and just had to do a little shopping.

I stopped in The Green Goddess Boutique. What a cool store! They call themselves Sustainably Chic.

I ended up buying a white camisole and a couple of tie-dye hair bands/bracelets.

I then stopped in Vosges. I didn’t buy anything, but you can be darn sure I had a few samples ;)

I hit up one more store before hopping on the El – Art Effect. This store has fun, unique gifts, housewares, and clothing. Remember yesterday when I said that I was on the hunt for a new coffee mug? Well, I found one!

I also saw these cookbooks and almost bought one. Trader Joe’s Cookbooks? Um, awesome!

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend as much as I!
